Postgraduate Iconography Atelier with George Kordis
A Monthly Studio Course for Advanced Study and Artistic Development
This Postgraduate Class is designed for graduates of the Writing the Light Certificate Program who wish to continue developing their work under the direct mentorship of Dr. George Kordis in an open, creative format.
Structured as a monthly studio gathering, the course offers an ongoing opportunity to explore personal or thematic projects within the Byzantine visual system, allowing each student to deepen their voice and refine their technical expression in a supportive, advanced-level setting.
Key Features:
- Free Theme: Students may choose their own subject or focus area—whether traditional icons, experimental compositions, or large-scale sacred art.
- One-on-One Feedback: Each session provides time for individual critique and group discussion, encouraging meaningful dialogue and growth at various stages of creative development.
- Master Guidance: Dr. Kordis will offer insight, corrections, and compositional direction tailored to each artist’s evolving work.
- Extra feedback: Dr. Kordis will welcome students in this class to enter extra opportunities to gain feedback during the Advanced drawing class (only one extra submission) if you wish.
SCHEDULE:
Meets once a month on a Thursday~ 1.5 — 2 hours per session (live, online)
Four Class Dates ~ 7:30 – 9:00pm Athens time (12:30 to 2:00pm EST for US & Canada).
FALL 2026 Dates:
1st Class — Wednesday, September 16th (* this class had to move to this day from the usual Thursday)
Then October 8, November 12th, and December 10th.
Who Should Attend
This atelier-style format is ideal for committed graduates who seek to maintain a rhythm of artistic practice and be part of a continuing community of sacred artists beyond formal study.
As part of this continuing formation, Dr. Kordis will occasionally share new works in progress from his own studio practice, offering students a window into his creative process and current explorations. Exclusive access for Certificate graduates of Writing the Light.
Cost: 140 EUR – 1x per month throughout the Spring Semester (4 sessions)
